One of the biggest impacts the ACTS retreat had on me, back in June 2010, was the realization of the power of the love of God as witnessed to by the retreat team. To see God’s love reflected in their words and actions brought me to the point of tears, if not passed it. Love is profound and the love we experience and receive throughout the ACTS retreat weekend is something that sticks with us forever. However, when we have returned to the “real world” we can find it difficult to maintain.

In today’s Mass readings the Lord reminds us of this very truth.

“You have lost the love you had at first. Realize how far you have fallen. Repent, and do the works you did at first.” ~ Revelation 2:4-5

It’s a powerful reminder that our journey through life requires much interior reflection and reevaluation. So I offer this brief passage in the hope that you would take it to heart and reflect on it personally. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • How has the love of God transformed your life?
  • Has the love you received on your ACTS retreat dwindled?
  • What can you do to rekindle the fire of God’s love in your life?

Feel free to share your responses in the comments below. Have a blessed week!
